Research Profile

  • Indoleamine molecule
  • Melatonin-receptor (MT1R / MT2R) agonist
  • Studied in circadian research
  • Third-party purity tested
  • Research use only

Melatonin (N-acetyl-5-methoxytryptamine) is an indoleamine characterised in the literature for its role in circadian signalling via the melatonin receptors MT1R and MT2R (not to be confused with the unrelated melanocortin analogue series). Supplied as lyophilised powder for in-vitro research use only.

The above describes how this compound is characterised in the published peer-reviewed literature. It is not a claim about effects in humans.

Laboratory Handling

Melatonin is supplied as a lyophilised (freeze-dried) powder in a sealed glass vial. For laboratory reconstitution, add the desired volume of diluent (typically bacteriostatic water) slowly down the side wall of the vial. Swirl gently until fully dissolved - do not vortex or shake. Store reconstituted solutions at 2–8 °C and use within 4–6 weeks.

Use our Reconstitution Volume Calculator to compute the resulting mg/ml concentration.

Purity & Verification

Every batch of Melatonin we supply is independently HPLC-verified by Janoshik Analytical. Where a Janoshik report has been issued for the current batch it is supplied with the order and carries a unique verification key that can be authenticated against Janoshik's records. Reported purity is consistently above 99%.
